Africa Centre for Health Leadership (ACHL) is an Africa-focused non-governmental organization contributing to addressing the healthcare challenges in Africa through strengthening health care institutions in the public and private sectors to institutionalize transformational and empowering leadership models in health care delivery. It seeks to develop human and institutional capacity on effective leadership for improved healthcare delivery. ACHL works to ensure that the communities take more responsibility and ownership of the health care system and partners effectively with stakeholders to improve access and demand for services especially for the most vulnerable and the deprived. In ACHL, we seek to make a difference in sexual and reproductive health/HIV/AIDS particularly in programming for key populations, and in maternal health and the response to Cancers, Tuberculosis and Malaria

We are seeking to hire Volunteer health workers and a Program Manager as follows:

  1. Medical doctors with specialization in public health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry/Mental Health and HIV/AIDS/TB
  2. Nurses and Nurse tutors with specialization in Midwifery, Public Health/Community Health, Psychiatry/Mental Health, HIV/AIDS and TB Care
  3. Social Workers, Counsellors and Health/Clinical Psychologist, Health Educators
  4. Program Manager (Health/Social Services)
  5. Media Practitioners- journalists-print, electronic, social media and Behavioural Change Experts
  6. ICT practitioners
  7. Researchers in health and social welfare issues
  8. Professional Leadership Mentors: Senior Nurses and Senior Medical Practitioners interested in devoting agreed hours in a month to mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • For all positions, candidates must be professionally qualified, registered with professional bodies and practising in their various fields
  • For number 4 above, the candidate must possess at least, a 1st degree in Health Sciences with at least 5 years program management experience in a reputable NGO or public health development organization. Possession of an MPH or MSc with three years’ experience as above is a distinct advantage
  • Young people especially young women are highly encouraged to apply

NOTE: Compensation:  These are volunteer positions for those who are passionate about serving vulnerable and deprived populations and want to donate their time, intellect and skills without monetary benefits. However, volunteers may be paid some modest allowances/per-diems, especially while on travel. These positions are NOT suitable for those actively searching for salaried jobs.
